Amy Ashley‘s international performance career is a kaleidoscope of collaborative projects, freelance, and contract work, spanning regional musical theater, independent film, and concert dance. She has worked with the likes of Gregory Dawson, Maurya Kerr, Sidra Bell, Kathryn Alter, Tracey Durbin, Linda Celeste Sims and more, toured to London, Paris, Istanbul, Bari, Corsica, Madeira,and across the US, and has been based in Portland OR, San Francisco, and New York City.

Most recently, Amy spent seven years with Ariel Rivka Dance (ARD), originating numerous roles for New York City premiers and touring internationally with the company. She also freelanced for Kathryn Alter & Dancers, and has presented her own work at Arts on Site, Green Space, and Dixon Place in NYC, and in New Jersey with DanceNJ and the Montclair Dance Festival.

Amy freelances and choreographs from Durham NC, and is assistant to her mentor, Tracey Durbin.

Amy founded and developed the ARD Education Program, heading it from 2020-2024 in residencies at Corlears School, The Dalton School, and Ballet Hispánico. On tour she has lead classes and repertoire workshops in Turkey, Italy, France, Portugal, and the U.K. and in New York City has held a faculty position at Mark Morris Dance Center since 2021,

Her signature contemporary modern class is inherited from her mentor, Tracey Durbin, and draws on the techniques and philosophies of Durbin’s mentor, Eugene Louis Faccuito, “Luigi,” one of the most famous international jazz teachers of his generation. It equips dancers with a strong, technical foundation while focusing on lowering the center of gravity and syncopating movement with a blend of Latin, modern, ballet, and jazz.
