I am of the legacies of Luigi, Limón, Judith Jamison, and Alonzo King.
I dance to communicate, to connect, and experience humanity to the fullest.

Amy Ashley has been freelancing and performing contemporary dance in New York City for over a decade. Her performance career has been a kaleidoscope of collaborative projects, freelance work, and company contracts, spanning regional musical theater, independent film, and concert dance. From the West Coast of the U.S. to New York City and international tours, she has performed works by the likes of Gregory Dawson, Maurya Kerr, Sidra Bell, Bob Fosse, Jose Limón, and Tracey Durbin. In NYC she has performed and toured with Ariel Rivka Dance and Kathryn Alter & Dancers, and has presented her own work at Arts on Site, Green Space, and Dixon Place, and in New Jersey with DanceNJ and the Montclair Dance Festival.
Amy is an experienced dance educator, teaching ballet, modern, and contemporary to all levels in year-round programs, summer intensives, and workshops at studios both regional and international. On faculty at Mark Morris Dance Center since 2021, she is the founding educator and program developer of the Ariel Rivka Dance Education Program, leading it from 2020-2024 in residencies at Corlears School, The Dalton School, and Ballet Hispánico. On tour she has lead pre-professional classes and repertoire workshops at studios and arts schools in Turkey, Italy, France, and the U.K.
Her signature modern jazz class is inherited from her mentor, Tracey Durbin, and draws on the techniques and philosophies of Durbin’s mentor, Eugene Louis Faccuito, “Luigi,” one of the most famous international jazz teachers of his generation. It equips dancers with a strong, technical foundation while focusing on lowering the center of gravity and syncopating movement with a blend of Latin, modern, ballet, and jazz.
Amy freelances and choreographs in NYC and New Jersey, and assists & performs the work of Tracey Durbin.
